Export Market Development Grants

The newly revamped and streamlined Export Market Development Grants program Round 2 will be open for applications from 6 July 2022 onwards and remain open for six weeks.

The new program, launched last year, will allow businesses to receive grant funding before actual overseas market development expenditures are made.

Australian Trade and Investment Commission’s Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) was a reimbursement scheme allowing exporting businesses to claim up to 50% of their eligible expenditures related to overseas marketing back from the government.

The scheme was reviewed recently, and almost all recommendations made in the review had been adopted in order to streamline the process and give more certainty to Australian exporters.

Three Tiered Approach To Businesses.

“Austrade’s Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program helps Australian businesses grow their exports in overseas markets.”
  • TIER 1: Ready to export – Up to $40,000 per year for two years (Maximum Pay Out $15,000 per FY)
  • TIER 2: Expanding – Up to $80,000 per year for three years (Maximum Pay Out $23,000 per FY)
  • TIER 3: Expanding and strategic shift – Up to $150,000 per year for three years (Maximum Pay Out $35,000 per FY)

Your Turnover Must Be Below $20,000,000!

You can be an exporter of the following:

(a) goods;
(b) services;
(c) events;
(d) intellectual property;
(e) know-how;
(f) software.

Your products, services need to satisfy certain conditional requirements and you will have to prove a designated connection to the export items.
